One of my best friends has been in Africa for a few years now, haven’t seen her in all that time, and this reminded me of her, so thank you for that. ;o)

Mother and son kicking up a storm. I love the wee bird on the young one’s back. Do you think he knows it is there?

    • oh, that’s a nice question.. i don’t know, i’d say yes, i saw birds on buffalos and giraffes as well, they looked perfectly at ease with each other, a lovely sight! what do you think?

I am not sure. I think he may notice when it isn’t there. It might be like us when we wear a ring all the time and we are so used to it that we only think about it if we suddenly realise it has fallen off. It is lovely to see the birds so at ease with the big animals.

      • yes it is and i think you can be right 😀

This is beautiful. As powerful as the ‘little one’ would be on his own, his Mother is still his strength, and in command. I love his little ‘pilot bird’ tagging along for the ride!

I love the hair on the ears, the bird on the back and the flies on the flank … so cool!

What a great composition. I can feel the grit of dust in my teeth.

Excuse me now while I break out the toothbrush.
